The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
