The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 then he mustered 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
