The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
