The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
