The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
