The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
