The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
