The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
