The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
