The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
