The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
