The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
