The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 you pay attention 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
