The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 then he mustered 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
