The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
