The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
