The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
