The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
