The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
