The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
