The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
