The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
