The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
