The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
