The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
