The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
