He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
