He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
