He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
