He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
