He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
