He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
