He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 In honored books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
