He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
