He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
