He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
