He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
