He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
