He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
