He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
