He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
