He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
