He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
