He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
