He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And hath fear, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
