He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe of God 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
