He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
