He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
