He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
