He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
